Duffield, Virginia?!!  Where is Duffield, Virginia?!  Duffield (population 91) may be "just past the middle of nowhere," but it is home to the nation's first commercial Tier III data center.

"How did we decide to build America’s first commercial Tier III datacenter amidst the Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia?,” Tom Deaderick, OnePartner Director explains at http://www.onepartner.com/Portals/4/Docs/10places.pdf.

No updates on the website since 2011, but here's an online tour: http://www.onepartner.com/VideoTour.aspx

Or might you prefer an undergound data center?  Apparently, Duffield may have one of those up and running soon too, according to an article available at http://www.timesnews.net/article/9053861/scott-supervisors-approve-permit-for-data-center-in-duffield.  The article reported, "GATE CITY — The Scott County Board of Supervisors approved a special use permit Wednesday for an underground data center that is being proposed for a former mining site located in the Duffield area."
